We've got a problem
life is a series of spectacles.

Capitalist leeches,
Paving stone beaches,
We was going nowhere,
and so we had a cup 'o tea and
Debord said look lads I've got an idea
Make a film with nothing in it
Except some talking for a bit
Well it didn't bleedin' work
We looked a right bunch of berks

Alright said Guy, how about this then,
Let's rewrite words in comic strips
He called it détournement,
it didn't really harm the
spectacles that surrounded us
and so Guy wrote a book
that critiqued modern life
And then we said cheerio!

Alright said Guy, May 1968,
students revolting against society
Riots riots, lemon tear gas diets,
Then we lost our nerve
and so things went back to normal.

Debord said look lads I've got an idea
Make the book into a movie
With stock footage that's really groovy
It's a message that'll warn
With a little bit of porn

Right said Guy,
I'm really pissed off,
someone's accused me of having someone killed
Withdrew his films and
Drank himself ill and
he was going nowhere
And so Guy went and shot himself
right through the heart
and then he said cheerio!
